Trying to choose a router to network a nettalk duo and a desktop
to a DOC SIS 3.0 cable modem, on a limited bandwidth connection
(.3/3Mbps, up/down). Nettalk offers a list routers that supposedly
work/don't work with their service. However, it's pretty out of date.
And a critical feature, QoS bandwidth control, isn't even spec'ed
in many of the routers recommended. Any ideas what else to look
for? Is a DMZ hosting feature necessary in some applications?

hi,

just bear in mind the particular voip service you use. I mean it may not be a problem for you but if i take skype for example, which is a P2P based voip service.

some routers/large networks cant NAT p2p programs correctly, because when the connections come back in, it cant determine the originating machine.

This is where a technique called HOLE PUNCHING comes in.
Hole punching - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

so when i imagine you asking for a DMZ hosting feature, i think of that being an alternative to hole punching.

sorry if i made things more confusing ;)
