Router Problem

The question was not about firewalls but why his network kept dropping out. There was no suggestion that he use this particular firewall for any purpose, in fact he was trying to make sure it was switched off.

As there is a period where his computer does connect to the network correctly I'm guessing that it's not firewall related.

I'm thinking along the lines of DHCP lease renewell problems.

It is also possible that it is the DSL connection that is at fault rather than the router, but this seems unlikely because CyToToXiC states that his old computer still works as expected with the router.

ok i figured out when it cuts out. It cuts out when i visit flash sites (like Doom3.com) or try to download.

Is your firewall set to reject active x stuff? if so you router could be blocking that stuff when you try to access a site with it.

I had that problem with my d-link router. When i visited a flash site or tryed to download.....it would cut out. I looked on the router and it was set to block active x or woteva....turned it off and it worked fine.
