router freezing connection

lately for some reason when ever i use bit torrent to download after a while my downloads and uploads will completely stop and my internet connection is lost on the computer causing any application trying to access it to crash, especially irc and msn messenger. i use azureus bit torrent client but have sudffered similar probloems with others. so far the only way to get my internet back is a restart or by disabling my network card ,turning off the router and then turning all back on, however i still cant download for long periods of time, thanks for any help in advance

I had a problem similar to this when I was using E-Donkey. If you have a Linksys router, there is a problem with the number of connections that you have going on. You need to limit the number of simultaneous connections, but I don't remember what you need to limit it to. Try starting low, and work your way up.
