Sharing a DSL connenction has been the main reason we have grown to a Peer to Peer network of 50 users. I need to build a case to promote the idea that there are many benifits to a Client/Server solution. I know that backing up individual PC's would be easier and more reliable. I need more information regarding security on the need to provide access privileges using passwords.

First of all, Welcome aboard to TF!!

The biggest seller for migrating to a client/server network is that a workgroup environment typically supports 10 computers... anything more than that becomes chaotic and significantly reduces network reliability.

If you decide to go with a Windows 2k or 2k3 setup your users can still keep all of the current permissions along with added ease of administration. You can manage data centrally and with a strong password your network will be very secure.

Also make sure the servers have all the latest security patches available. This will drastically reduce your vulnerability.
