Hi I have a computer which I want to set file sharing ON, but the user sometimes messes with it and switches it off (I want to keep access to the printer on all the time) they keep unticking the file sharing box, like in this link:

How can i setup permissions so that they have no longer any access to this box? Or it becomes greyed out for them? Thanks!

Make their acct a user account instead of admin, or tell them to stop. :)

What OS are you using. I see it is XP but are you using Home or Pro? You will need to edit the GPO, Group Policy Editor. You will have to place them in a limited user accoutn and remove the rights to the Network changes from them.

So in a sense Bruce is right. A Limited User can not make changes to a Network. Only a Admin account can.

If they are a limited user im not sure you need to do anything in the GPO

I don't think what Bruce is saying is completely correct.

And if you're gonna say i'm incorrect, you should offer a solution. :D

The GPO is jsut another solution. But it is still good to do that just in case they go into Safe Mode and get Admin rights back. ;)
