I just recently reformatted a computer and reinstalled windows. It's been awhile since I made a new connection. All of the wizards are really not helping in setting up a connection. Any hints or tips?

I would say you need to re-install the network drivers.
If you don't have the disc with the drivers, check online... is it a PCI card, or integrated into the motherboard?

The driver disk that came with the motherboard will have it..

The computer never came with a cd of drivers. I reinstalled with a "recovery disk" and a lot of my other drivers need to be updated too now that I think about it. The graphics are screwed up and whatnot.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure it is a PCI Device.

ok, if you have no disc's, you will have to visit the webpage of the maker of the card.... You can find drivers there. Same with your video issue.
