I have a wireless connection
using linksys USB adapter 802.11B
signal strength is EXCELLENT

when i check the network connection

the receiving of packets sometime spikes
i don't notice it too much interrupting while just browsing the web or chatting
but i do notice it when playing counter-strike(FPS game)
it spikes for 1 second
no chokes, but "14 loss"
it happens maybe every 2 minutes while playing the game

i also checked the WIRED computers and playing the game
no spikes

my cpu is running only 4% usage

has anyone experience something like this with a USB wireless adapter?

and would anyone know what i can do to fix this?
normally i would be able to figure it out, but i've been trying to fix this for a few hours already and no results

thanks in advance

Playing Counter Strike with with an 802.11B wireless connection is probably the first problem. That doesn't really explain the spikes, but I would definetely upgrade to 802.11G.

Personally, I would buy the 802.11G that has ports also, keep a stretch of CAT5 cable lying around, and when it was time to play games online, plug that into your router instead.

i highly doubt that 802.11B is the problem at all
and the reason im using wireless is cuz my computer is upstairs and the router is downstairs, i would need a long wired to do so, and i don't want to deal with the wire

my ping in it is low, below 40s
so thats definitely not a problem playing with 802.11B
