Questions on Branchcache

Branchcache process?

Quick questions, I'm looking into brachcache and I want to know how the modifying and saving process works on a cached file?

Does it update on both the office cache and central server? or just the central server, which means then users have to re-download the new version? if the latter than isnt branchcache pretty pointless if you need to keep modifying files?

Also is there a way to cache a whole folder containing files, or is it simple individual files?

Sounds like it syncs a copy to a branch office from the central server (if setup in the central server mode vs distributed mode), and then clients at that office get the branch-office copy. I assume then it syncs back and forth between branch / main offices.
