Proxy servers,

I want to host a proxy server from my home computer but i dont want it to be an HTTP proxy, if you google proxy list it will bring up a list of ip addresses and ports so you can go to Tools > Options > advanced > network (settings). in firefox and then add the proxy in that window and then begin to surf anomalously. do i need to set up a special sever for this? if so can someone point me in the right direction, i have experience in my SQL, php, apache, perl, html, cgi scripts and i know quite a bit about hosting a website from ones own computer.

NO you dont, the proxy you got from the list is the server
