I got a laptop several months ago and I've finnaly decided to put Starcraft on it. I installed SC and BW very smoothly. However, when I try to connect to Bnet, it "searches" for quite some time on the first screen that says, "looking for the fastest bnet server" and then tells me I need to change something.

I disabled Norton autoprotect and don't have any other virus software going, nor does anything pop up requesting internet access.

Any ideas why I can't connect? Windows firewall maybe? I'm thinking it has to be something with the XP Home OS. I've had 98SE (after 3.1 :)) to this point.

well, I'm not a real gamer, but I'd guess, that it's either windows firewall, or a port on your router (if you have one that is...) that needs to be opened for the game.

Probably windows firewall

Go to your connections

start -> control panel -> network connections -> right click your connection -> click properties -> click advanced -> settings -> exceptions, and check the starcraft files.
