I recently moved onto the Portland State University campus and they hooked me up with some pretty fast internet. But I'm having trouble forwarding ports.

First of all, I have no idea what kind of connection I have. They gave me some sort of unit (has Cisco Systems 574 LRE on it) that connect a phone line to the wall, and a cat5 to my router. The router connects to it via DHCP.

On my router I forward ports and/or set my computer on the DMZ, but it does nothing. Any ideas?

Probably your university has a firewall that is blocking the ports. unless you ask them to forward the ports you want to use to your computer, which I doubt it, you can't do anything.

C_olin, what are you trying to forward your ports for, if your forarding your ports chances are your trying to connect to your PC from an outside computer you cant use a local ip address to do that, you probibly have done everything correct you just left out some details.
