[Problem] Computer doesn't notice ethernet cable - in one room?

What are these cables going into? Are they all going to a home router, or maybe a switch?

It doesn't sound like the problem is the NIC or the cable simply because everything works when switched around; I would guess that there's something going on at the end of that cable.

Tried to see if it works in Safe Mode w/ Networking?

Ya, didn't work.

I replaced the ethernet cable and it works fine now. Weird how the old cable didn't get along with that computer, but both of them got along with everything else... A life lesson of sorts.

Switch. I switched out the cable and it works fine. Weird since the old cable worked with everything else but the computer in that room, just like that computer worked with everything else. Those two just weren't compatible, I guess. C'est la vie.
