Problem accessing internet from client pc

What eventually resolved the problem?

I think it may have been a combination of unchecking the setting to 'Use default gateway on remote network' and then changing the IP address of the client PC to match the host address - these were the last two changes I made.

Nice...yea, using a DUN connection can be tricky! (Dial-Up Networking)
