I am behind a router and I am trying to forward ports so I can host a counterstrike server and connect to my VNC server (remote desktop application). I have forwarded the correct ports to the router. It is a netgear mr18 I believe. I set my IP on the hosting machine to a static IP as I have read to do. I when to www.whatismyip.com to get the external IP address. My problem is, it does not work. My friends types in the ip I got from www.whatismyip.com and he cannot connect. He is using the correct ports. Any ideas? Could there be some kind of security feature on my router that rejects these attempts? Any help would be appreciated.
