hello, OK, so straight to the point. Most of my friends appear offline on messengers.. Including me. And im wondering if i could determine whether their were online by using ping (provided i knew the ip already)

I've been researching a bit about teh offline detection stuff too, apparently messenger discovery live can tell if peeps are offline or 'appearing offline'. I haven't tested it yet tho.

As to pinging someone, what if they have broadband? I don't think taht would work very well. they could ALSO be on and not using any messenger service.

cheers bro, hadnt even heard of a "messenger discovery live" till now, but ill give it ago and see if there are any options
