Noob Router Set-up

Ok, I bought a new router today (it seems everyone is these days). I understand how to do everything pretty much. Its a Linsys WRT54G with the desktop card. The only problem is I am having a problem connecting my router to my modem box (R**drunner). It doesn't seem like there is a place to put the cable on it. I'm thinking I might need a splitter. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I have a new question. How would I encrypt the router or whatever so my neighbor or someone couldn't use it.

do you mean connecting the modem to the router? and is this wireless (because it dosent need to be encrypted if its not wireless!) reply to these questions, well go from there
