hey, i need your help
iam trying to network a laptop with windows 2000 pro on it and a desktop with windows xp on it, iam running the calbes thou my dlink router,
i can acess the internet from the laptop but i cant acess anyfiles
or work out how,

Are they setup in a workgroup?

If so, when trying to access files from one machine to another, access will be denied. Try adding the user account of the machine trying to access the files to the machine which is hosting the files. I think this should solve your problem.

The reason being that in a workgroup user credentials and security information are stored locally on each machine. When trying to access files from another machine as an unauthenticated, obviosly, access will be denied.
