networking problems

my bro just re-installed XP on our family computer, set up network and now i cant access him. he hasnt changed any settings other than his computer name, IP and workgroup.

you need to be on in same workgroup

only got SP2 firewall.

same workgroup but it doesnt matter. i have had networks working with three different workgoups before.

he can access me but i cant access him.

check the user permissions in user settings...

Probably a netBIOS problem, the other computer are still seeing him as the old computer name and not the new one. do a NBSTAT -c to see the computer listed in your workgroup and do NBSTAT-R to clear the cache.
