networking problems

Me and my freinds are trying to set up our networks so we can play a game called fantasy gorunds. It requires port 1802 be open, and i folowed portforward's giude for my router to open that port. However i did an open port check on the web and it still says the port is closed. I have a motorola wr850g router if that helps.

When you log back into the router, do it show that the port should be open? Was the router configuration saved after doing so?

yeah , it lets me bring up the created setting, and it says it's enabled

Do you have a software firewall running on your PC, or have you tried to run the game since making the change?

yeah, we tried after i configured the ports. I haven't tried turning off the software firewall. I did try turning off the router firewally, but that didn't work.
