My bro in laws PCs are downstairs. The wireless router is up stairs. The house has a vent doing between the up/down stairs in a weird setup. My PC is on a direct connection but his two PCs are on wireless usb connectors that are not very strong at all, very weak. Can it be because of the two PCs and two TVs he has in the basement room of his ? Would that kill his signal strentgh ?

that kind of distance, and the material of the house will effect the signal strength. It also depends on the version of 802.11 being used. Microwaves & cordless phones that operate at the same frequency will severly effect the network when they are in use.

I would think the distance and the barriers are the main concern for connection loss.
