When I reboot my Windows 98 PC to logon to the network occasionally I just get the Egg Timer running & the PC won't allow any keyboard or Mouse Input at the Logon screen
Can anyone tell me what process the PC is going through at that point, ie/ Is it initialising the NIC

Its very frustrating as the next few reboots it all works ok

Thanks for any help

Do you have scripts that run on boot up... live virus scanning?
Any other 'network drive connections'?

When you say "occasionally", you mean most of the time there is no problem and only a few times, [something is different] and therefore the PC hangs?

go step by step and think... something is causing to hang

good luck!
and/or give more info/details to your problem
