I'm trying to set up a folder that I can share to the other computers in my house. I can share the folder just fine. Most of the files inside it open. However, any files that I recently put in there won't open on the other computers because the other computers don't have permission to open them.

shared files and folders have two levels of permissions.

Sharing permissions - permission on the network share
NTFS permission - permission on the local file/folder

add these permissions for the files/folder for the remote users

Alright. How exactly do I get to that though? I've tried to find that security tab but everytime I click sharing and security (under the right click menu) I just get the simple folder options stuff.

open my computer, click tools | folder options, click view tab, uncheck simple file sharing (should be last entry).

Nevermind. According to this one website:

Simple File Sharing (SFS) is always enabled and cannot be disabled in Windows XP Home Edition.

Great. Sorry guys, should have let you know first. Thanks anyways.
