Is it a big problem to set up network between two computers one of which has WinXP and another - Vista?

When people first tried networking them there was usually a few problems, but now about all of them have been solved. If you get stuck just google 'xp vista network'. There are some really helpful step-by-step guides on the subject.

Problem I had was that:

XP default workgroup is WORKGROUP

Vista default workgroup is MSHOME

What I didn't know, but do now from experience, is change the XP to MSHOME; OR, Change the Vista machine's default workgroup to WORKGROUP. Either way will work, as long as both computers belong to the same workgroup. You could call the shared network anything, as long as they matched, and follow Windows' guidelines for naming conventions.

Windows XP uses Workgroup now if you create the network with SP3 now. If you only have SP2 and all updates up to but not including SP3 it should still use Workgroup. There was a change made to the network wizard in regards to this not long after Vista came out to address that issue. ;)

Not a problem. I only knew of it cause i have done it myself. ;)
