Can somebody tell me about the Netgear WGR614 802.11g Router


as i understand, i need to connect it to an existing Wired router via Ethernet -

Now, this seems a bit pointless to me, to have a wired modem, and the Netgear wireless router as well -


I allready have wireless, i was just thinking about getting a Netgear to replace it -

It should be as simple as replacing the current wireless router that you have with the one that you wish to purchase.

Ummm , it looks like you are saying that you have a wireless modem.

It all depends. if your wi fi modem has NAT and SPI you may not need a router and does it have PKA encryption for the wi fi?

the router may also have a firewall and will definately have SPI and NAT. The router will deffinatley have more LAN ports too. The router will definatley have encryption ( use PKA , WEP is crackable) for the wi fi.

If you get the router you will need to be able to turn off the modem wi fi especially if there is no encryption.
