Hi, I apologise if this is not the right section, or has already been asked; I simply have given up searching.
I am running the most recent build of Ubuntu and I was wondering how to make netcat connect to a computer (for example to chat) which is not a local one (i.e. not in my LAN). I have several computers in my LAN and can connect fine to them. How can I send a message to a computer just by using the global IP address. I have tried to send a message to myself via port forwarding (I try and connect by leaving my network and re-entering), and if I disable my routers firewall all it says is connection refused.
-thanks
