Need help with folder forwarding

I've set up an apache tomcat server on my desktop PC so I can access files I want to share with my laptop.

The problem here is, I don't want the information in 2 places on my desktop. I'll explain better.

For files to be accessed from the tomcat server, I have to create a folder inside the programs root folder, I'm doing this with a bunch of files though, and dont want it copying everything.

What I want is to be able to link to a folder, therefore I dont have to copy it in to the tomcat folder. Any way to do this?

I don't understand. I thought that tomcat was a jsp server. If you want to share files then samba is probably what you are after. Or is it that you want to run applications on your PC remotely?
