Need help creating a wireless network between a xp and vista comp

What I would like to do is create a permanate wireless network between my xp pc and my wifes vista laptop. I need to share files and maybe a printer. I have tried researching this online and am getting conflicting instructions (very frustrating) so I was hoping you guys could help me out.

Just create a network and allow sharing and network discovery.

I'm not going through the long exclamation of how to do it. Let me look around, see if I can find a simple guide
