Question nas without nas please comment!

ok now ive been wondering something
technically when u run a "program" it reads/writes files
now a homegroup allows a user to read/write files from another computer on the same network
so in theory couldent
you allow the one computer to read/write the files from another computer

so has files. runs a program from the homegroup files to launch the program similar to a nas without an nas
if its possible just theoretically explain how if not why not

sorry for punctuation

Depends on the program.

Programs don't all read/write files. Programs load themselves into memory (RAM). So it would have to essentially be a "portable" app that only needs to run from memory, rather than require files or registry entries to be able to run.

You could setup local users on each PC and setup permissions for those users and use those user accounts to login to PCs over the network; that way you have a way to more adequately control access permissions.

How IT Works: NTFS Permissions

But the setup best for your needs depends a lot on how you plan to use it and if you need to restrict access to certain resources for certain users.

If the shorcut goes to a path that the user you're logged in as has access to - yes.

But if you hadn't setup access permissions for that user then it would prompt for a login and password of a user that does have those permissions or else display an error box saying you do not have sufficient permissions.
