I'm looking to purchase a Network Attached Stoarage device. I have a basic wired home network, modem / router / switches...but would like to add "backup" and "file sharing" capabilities. I need recommendations as to what products would be a good choice. So far Buffalo has caught my eye, but i'm not sure if this is the best I can do. I am mainly looking to put audio/picture files on the NAS, and backup important files to it.
In addition, I am looking for a comprehensive, easy to use backup program that can be used to backup files to the NAS and other media such as DVD/CD.
Also, does it make sense to attach an extra hard drive to the NAS with automatic backup of the NAS? I would like to do all this for around $500.00 or less.
Another question...are there any NAS devices that can be accessed from a location outside the network. When I am traveling away from home, I would like to be able to access files on my home network.
