Ok i have a computer downstairs it has broadband and a modem connected via USB, there is a spare Ethernet socket on the modem.
I want to connect to the internet with a computer upstairs that has no modem.
What do i need?

I recommend getting a router and connecting both computers to the router. You can use wireless or wired, either way will work. I just don't recommend using USB.

i use usb my modem also has the usb and ethernet port i use the ethernet thing to go to my router and i use the usb to go directly to my computer and believe it or not but i do get better speeds on my usb than ethernet when i tested.
