My LCD TV has a LAN port. Why?

I cannot find any info on this in the manual. It's a Samsung LN40B640 (only at Best Buy, this model any way). There is a LAN port on the back. Does any one know why there would be a LAN port?

internet? I looked up a similar model LA40B650, that one had internet-browsing something-or-other.

Yeah I guess so. I haven't had the chance to mess with it yet. That model number is basically my TV with a lower C/R.

Firmware updates? Streming over Ethernet from a PC?

That or it could be for diagnostics.

it's for firmware updates, and samsung has fun extra's in their tv's that you can get updated and stuff.

Found out it's for RSS feeds and local weather reports
