My ethernet connected pc is faster than my wireless PC

OKbmy router is downstairs and my brothers computer is directly connected using a Ethernet cable. My new computer is upstairs wireless connected. My computer upstairs downloads games off steam at 100 KB/s (terrible) So i did an experiment by hooking up my PC downstairs with an Ethernet cable and now it downloads steam games at 700 KB/s!!


What do I have to do to get that same speed upstairs in my room?

Wired connections are always faster than wireless connections. They'll never be equal.

Unless its connected directly you'll never get that (with a ethernet cat5 connector you can)

how can i get a wired connection from upstairs though? do i need another router?

The ethernet cord you plug into your NIC (NIC is the ethernet port in the back of your comp)

Do what my dad does, get a giant connector and tape over it so it doesn't make anybody trip or live with the DL speed, 100KBPS isn't that bad

so your just saying get 50 ft Ethernet cable?

actually that's not possible because the way my house is i have to put it on the floor

or couldn't i just take the modem thats in basement and put that in my room? that would work perfectly.
