Im am using winXP, and have installed latest FF, rel. 2.0. I am on a network at work, and when surfing occasionally get an error message entitled "Authentication Message", see image attached.
I've asked my network guys, and they're not supporting me, assume because I am not using MS Explorer - which is sooo slooow.
I have tried inserting my network username and password but this does not work.
Please help.....

It's ok your network guys are most likely doing you a favor.

The only help i can give would be to bring them a nice bag of coffee. Then maybe they will give you the user name and pw. :)

What happens if they dislike coffee?
Nevermind that, what kind of a useless answer is that, no help to anyone!
Next time don't bother wasting your time and this websites space making stupid comments.
The idea is to provide guidance and helpful answers!!!

SORRY FOR FLAMING, BUT HE JUST SHOULDN'T!

Tried that with no success, doesn't connect to web.
Mine is setup to use Manual Proxy Configuration.

where it says username type: "DOMAIN\USER NAME" except replace DOMAIN with whatever you network's domain is called and replace "USER NAME" with the user name you log onto that network with.
under password, type your password.

the key here is typing in the domain\user name so if the domain was named "example" and my user name was "kfc469" I would put:
EXAMPLE\kfc469 in the username box. make sure you put the domain in all caps.

Tried proposed solution of kfc469, still no luck.
It seems to be occuring when FF tries to search for updates.
Also, plugins do not successfully download.

Don't know enough to answer Ethereal_Dragon, but our IT crew tell me FF maybe conflicting with our proxy - thats me lost as I know littel of networking!
