Hi,
Myself (and my housemate) have been unable to connect to the internet with our home router having used the XP computers on another network in different accommodation.

Wiping the hdd solves the problem (in both cases) but id like to know if there is a standard resetting procedure for windows xp that would make a computer that is presumably configured to connecting to a LAN somewhere else, work. (I still have a partition I'd like to use online. ) Thanks in advance, you guys are a godsend.

Can you describe the 'other network' that the PC's worked on?

Is the computer currently set up for Static IP or DHCP? When connected to the router, open a command prompt, and type 'IPCONFIG' and paste the results here.

Have you tried re-running the internet connection wizard? try that, and select 'connected through LAN'.
