making torrentss go faster?

at the moment when i am downloading a torrent of from torrentspy.com it crawls along at like 2-20kb/s then sometimes it will go up to 40-170kb/s for about 45mins then slow back down....

right now i am downlaoding something that is going @ 1.3kb/s

is there any way i can get my torrents downloading faster?

If you're behind a router, you can try Port Forwarding. portforwarding.com and look for your router.

Download speed can also depend on who you are downloading from. If you are only getting a file from 1 person, they may be throttling the upload speed on their side, which would make it slow for you... Since you are seeing the speed fluctuate, I would have to guess that you are just getting unlucky, and not getting many hosts to get the file from.

I get the same problem. What program do you use to download the file? Maybe I can help if I know that.

I use Utorrent with isohunt.com.

I never have problems with download, but I always choose files with lots of seeders.

Hmm I use bitlord with mininova.com.

It seems really slow too, I guess you just kinda have to browse all the torrent sites to get the most seeders.

Definately forward the port on your router to the IP of the computer you are doing it on. I've done this and it made the downloads FLY!!!! Downloads that used to say over 1 day to download got cut down to less than an hour.
