Mac and PC Wireless Router Questions

What would be a good inexpensive router for this purpose that would be 802.11g compliant?Would a server/client software addition on this kind of setup be possible ,or worthwhile for security reasons?

It was going to be XP Pro ans OSX, but my girlfriend changed her mind and is getting a G5.
