LPT Port Capture

I have many clients that STILL use 16-bit DOS programs that as well all know will not print directly to a usb port. Usually this is not the issue as I just use the "net use" command to the printer share... but for some reason that did not work for me last time. I kept getting error "67" which is network name not found. This was a brand new HP that I had reinstalled with xp pro.

I have two serious problems with this. First off, these software companies that wrote their programs are still in business but only offer the DOS based solution still.... in 2010. And why the **** would Microsoft take out that checkbox from 2000 and earlier that said "capture this port and send to _____"

But, if anyone has had an issue with this and has any suggestions feel free to throw them my way.

Shot in the dark here, but is NetBIOS disabled? Assuming this is what it would be running over to find the name for DOS.

Edit: wait...is this a network printer or locally attached?
