Hi :)

Can anyone help please?
l'm running Windows XP, Professional, version 2002 with Service Pack 2 on an AMD Duron Processor, 1.20 GHz, and 512 MB of RAM.

After some time of the machine sitting idle, l lose internet.
Sometimes l have a grey box telling me l am not connected to the internet, would l like to continue to work offline or try again. More often than not, clicking on "try again" doesn't work, so l have to reboot and start all over again.

Also, there is a "Hybernation" option on this version of XP which is supposed to shut down the PC, but keeping the settings of the things l am busy with, so that when l re-start the PC all the browsers and programmes are open where l left them when l went into hybernation mode.

lt doesn't work.

When l go into hybernation mode and re-start the PC all the programmes/browsers are there, but l have no internet, so l have to re-boot in order to work - in other words, "Hybernation" mode is not worth the bother.

l don't know what l have done, and have searched everywhere l can think of to find something to stop this happening. l've asked lots of people, but no-one has a solution for me.

:umm: l'm not a PC buff, though, so please use little words and baby steps. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Many thanks.

go into the network cards properties and disable hibernate, or allow to hibernate/sleep. Some cards have a problem coming out of this mode.

You two are BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!

Thankyou sooooooo much - problem solved - l'm connected, l stay connected, and hybernation now works!

Consider yourselves KISSED and hugged and tell your Mummy she can be very proud of you

Thanks :D
