OK In October me and a few freinds are going to host a 40 person Lan Party. This will be our fisrt of such larg scale events. We have hooked up 10 - 15 computers with out current config no problem but for 40 we want to make sure we still have what we need.

Ok here is what we have so far.

I recently bought one of these

It has a Gbit uplink and we are planing on getting one more of these.

This will give us enough spaces for 48 Computers.

I also have one of these.

Wich has no gbit so there might be a bottle neck here if we get to many computers on it. I will only use this one if we realy need it and even then only put a few pcs on it.

So with that being said does anyone here have any suggestions on what else we might do. I think this config of the 2 gbit switches will work just fine, I just wanted to make sure before we go hooking everythign up and realize we left something major out. Our plan is to keep buying the dell switches as we grow. as well as getting a full 16 port gbit switch for our servers.

You don't really need Gigabit connections if you're just playing games, 100Mb is enough. It seems like you have everything you need.

I realize that but aint nothing wrong with a little over kill exspecialy when it comes to bandwidth. Most the times at lan parteis you also have file sharing and what not going on as well as games.

these switches are only Gbit thourgh the up link so we dont have much of a bottle neck between the switches.

Any one on here ever thown a large 40+ person lan party if so how did it go and what where the issues you found in doing so.

Just trying to cover all my bases.
