Kernel Virus

A computer I am currently working on has a virus. The owner of the computer called gateway and was told that she had the kernel virus. I am unable to find any information about this virus on the internet. Is there anyway that I can fix this problem without wiping and reloading the system? I need any help I can get. thanks

this is all the information i can find...try the free scan that they are suggesting and see if that works.....what are the symptoms the computer is having?

Kernel virus... what OS? If its windows, check the boot.ini file, and um, go to google and type in online virus scan, the first thing on the list should be trend micro something, go there, click scan now. Norton and McAfee couldn't detect a virus I got awhile ago, but this did.. amazing!
