Hola, I am quite curious, and I need help. Does an ISP keep records of what websites have been visited by the user? If so, how would you go about deleting these records from the server to protect privacy? Is it even possible? From a boy learning about cyberspace!

Why do you like visiting child pornography websites or something? I am not sure if they do, it would be a huge list but maybe they do red tag you if you go to certain websites but i highly doubt it as it is an uneccessary expense for them.

If you want to surf annonymously get some psecial software or go through proxies.

No I don't like child pornography! I had a conversation in computer class about it and I wanted to know whether it was true or not!

Whether or not they have a list is a mystery. It certainly is possible. -- although the list would be huge. The main thing here is IF they could make this "list" useful -- the answer is probably not because it would most likely violate privacy laws unless of course you signed a document when you signed up for Internet giving them permission to do so. I'm no lawyer here.. but this is just my educated guess.

Actually that's an often asked question. Of course websites track you, but ISP's have better things to do, and as KuDave stated, it would be against their best judgement to violate their users privacy. With all the zillions of packets going through the internet it would be virtually impossible to track someone, geez, the FBI, CIA, NSA and government agencies can barely track people in cyberspace.

Ok, I got thrown off by the kiddie porn statement and assumed the question was, "Do ISP's intentionally track users"

All ISP's of course have DNS logs and router logs that could trace where your going and where you've been. But they use them for diagnostics, not spying. So I regress, the answer to the above question would be Yes. To my knowledge if you called them and tell them to delete them they would not only laugh but probably investigate you.
