check device manager for any problems with your nic.

does lan connection show up in network connections?

This is the standard message when your NIC has a static address. You cannot /release nor /renew in this state. Simply go into the properties for the local area connection (or whatever it might be named) and change the state for TCP/IP from Static to "Obtain an address automatically"
