A software firewall such as Zone Alarm can hide your IP, or the last octet of your IP address "when aplicable." However, I haven't the slightest idea what kind of situations "when aplicable" includes.

first use a router to disguise it. first line to prevent from internet's direct attacks then as the guy above ZoneAlarm firewall has the feature to hide the IP even the free one has it.

Router can only hide your private IP , but not the ip that your ISP is giving you. Web proxy servers will hide your ip.
Just goodle proxy servers or what is proxy server and you'll know what i mean.

Like vanja said, the router can only hide your private ip. But, depending on what you are trying to do, you can block all traffic from coming into your router, with the exception of ports you need for internet and email, and only let the traffic out that you need, again for internet and email, ie: port 25 - smtp, 80 - http, and 110 - POP3.
