Internet connections in USA

Hi Folks,

what are the most common internet connections used in the USA?(private users)

What are the fastest there?

There are currently many types of internet connections available to a consumer ranging from dial-up to DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) to Cable Broadband Service.

At the moment, Cable has the highest possible download speed. Ranging up to 6 mbps.

I am in a Wi-Fi hotspot, cable or dsl is not available in my area. Depending on the conditions, I get anywhere from 300K to 1Mbit/sec. My Wi-Fi is capped, but without that cap at 1MBit/sec, it would be running at like 11Mbit/sec. Many hotels actaully offer connections at these speeds, which are the fastest private connections available.

yea most people use cable.. but alot of areas in the country arent set up for cable yet.
