Im helping my friend on his computer. We just did a fresh install of xp. We tried installing the software for his linksys wireless adapter. It installed but there is no wireless network icon (the computer icon) I cant remember if the program is supposed to set up the network or if i need to, the program didnt so im kinda stuck. Any ideas?

If you made a fresh install of XP then by default, the icon would be invisible. Goto your network settings from teh Control Panel and then right click on your wireless connection from there to make sure it's set up correctly.

I hate the default look of xp *HATE*. I'd switch over to classic if I were you.

well the problem is when i go to control panell there is no wireless netework there is only the one by default do i need to manually make one because i thought the cd from linksys did?

You need to go to controle panel > system > Hardware > device manager and look under network adapters and see if your linksys adapter is displayed there if not then you need to right click "network adapters and "scan for hardware changes"

i clicked scan for changes and nothing new came up. Could it be we havent yet installed sp2?
