Im trying to setup a network here

ok i have a RCA cable connected modem with comcast internet. When I try to setup a network using a WRT54G router it says i dont have an internet connection, when i am on here typing this right now. Help

sorry. i have been going at this for a while now.

Okay as soon as i disconnected my modem from the back of my computer and connected the router and everything i lost connection and didnit have internet. Now that i have replugged in my modem to the back of my computer i have internet now.

so it is not recieving internet when i plug in my router

how do i check what version WRT54G i have?

It will be on the bottom of the router. I own a WRT54G, so I know what you are going through.

here is my best advice, and it is what I did. Call Linksys and let them walk you through it. Odds are you need to update the firmware in the router, and then set it up. Linksys can get you where you need to be. I don't call them now because I have done it enough to blunder my way through, but you really need to call them to set it up initially. Or you could waste many more hours of trial and error.
