Arlight this is what i want to do,

I want to be able to use two computers to access the internet simultaneously using one DSL line. My friend told me to get a router.
So I did find a router, but i just need to picture it in my mind how I could connect the internet and the two computers to my router, and if i need to buy special ethernet cables.

Thank you very much,

Dummy

you will need to connect an ethernet cable, provided with the modem, from the modem to the WAN port on the router. this will give the router inet access. then connect ethernet cables, ask for cat5 patch/straight, from the computers the router. now the computers have access to the router. The router acts as the man in the middle.

Each computer needs a NIC (ethernet card/networking interface card).
Just in case you are used to using a USB modem and are using old computers without onboard NIC.

There should be little to no configuring needed (depending on your OS). Just plug the ethernet cables into the router, the router connected to your modem and you should be ready to go.
