I have noticed that it's possible to purchase a second dynamic IP address from my cable ISP for a small monthly fee.
My question is: How does one implement this sort of setup?
I can think of several possibilities:
1. Split the signal BEFORE the modem and use TWO modems: one for each dynamic IP.
2. Use ONE modem (although I'm not sure a single modem can get TWO dynamic IPs???) and then let a router take ONE of the IPs, and a "DMZ" node on the LAN take the other IP.
3. Use some sort of special hardware (modem/router/etc.) to handle the assignment and distribution of the two dynamic IPs.
Perhaps there are more solutions. Could anyone with experience/knowledge in this give me some details as to how this is achieved?
