To do this both computers have to be connected to the same network.

On the computer that you want to share the files on open System Preferences. Under "internet and wireless" click "sharing." Here you can choose what things you want to share and you can set permissions for various users. Now from the other computer's desktop hit "Command+Shift+K" a new window will open up. Now click the computer you want to access, make sure that you connect as the main user of the computer that is sharing the files otherwise you won't be able to access everything.

How do I connect as the main user?

When you click on the computer sharing the files their will be a little button in the upper right hand corner that says "connect as." Just click that and put in the information for the main user of that computer.

Here you go :)

EDIT: Opps, I didn't realize you figured it out.
