How can you access a external HDD on a network. (3 computers, home)

I have a friend that wants to be able to access his music and such that will be on an external hdd. He would like to be able to access this from all computers at home. I'm clueless on networking so how can he do this?

Just share the enitre drive. This does mean the comp which the drives connected to will have to be left on.

ok cool. thank you. I figured it was simple I just don't do this stuff much.

Yup, It's quite easy.. You can do the entire drive, or just a select folder.. Depends on what he wants to share.
